Twenty Six Rescued as We Care Campaign Closes in Oklahoma

by Larry West

Here are only some of your new brothers and sisters won in two weeks in Cordell, Oklahoma.  Others obeyed after this picture was taken.
See www.wecareministries.com

Twenty-six souls were rescued in Cordell, Oklahoma in We Care Ministries' latest campaign, 24 obeyed the Gospel and two more were restored.  And for the church there consisting of fewer than 90 members, that is substantial growth.  The latest two obeyed during the day of Victory Sunday.

Forty WCM Cadre from ten states journeyed to Cordell to join hands with the church to reach out to the community.  Among those who obeyed was the youth minister of a local "high church" (one that sprinkles); then the youth minister, on a separate study, from a "fundamentalist church" (one that practices the "sinner's prayer") is on the verge of obeying the Gospel herself.

Cordell is a very small town.  Everyone knows everyone!  Even the church had split in town in it's history.  Can people be won in such an environment?

Yes, in fantastic ways!  Workers said the village was so open and open to the Lord they could not even get off the street assigned to them.  They were getting seemingly into every home!  One worker, Donna Smith, Cadre, said near the end of the campaign she had not gone out a single time BUT that she had had a study!

We were finding one out of every two doors knocked someone was at home as we worked that town and a smaller nearby one.  Of those at home we presented the Gospel to one out of every three people!  And one out of every six of those who heard the Gospel obeyed it!!

And they were presented and accounted for Victory Sunday morning!

Now, more victories are seen than just in the numbers.  The lives of Christians are changed!  Sometimes drastically.  Local brother Ron McKee stood to face the "Battle Staff" near the end of the campaign and said, "I came to the training which we had about six months before the actual campaign.  I set in the pew and listened, thinking maybe this will work, but I had my doubts.

"VERY SKEPTICAL!!!!!!!!

"As the campaign started, I still had my doubts, but I decided to participate, so I took the team which I was on, to visit a lady I knew.  I had put her on my “Ten Most Wanted” list.  When she saw us coming, we didn't even have to go to the door.  She met us outside on her street in front of her house and studied with us there!

"She told us that last Sunday she had prayed that God would send someone to her.  (In fact, she had driven by the church building the night before, she had seen the RVs parked on the lot and prayed there God would send someone to her.  And this story took place the next day!)  When we finished the study she was ready to obey the Gospel.  We took her to the building immediately and baptized her.  We have a new sister in Christ!!

"My doubt and skepticism was taken out of my life!  God does provide!  Matt. 19:26 - With God All Things Are Possible!  When we take our eyes off Jesus, the doubt and fears take over!"

Meet God's hero!

At our present campaign in Cordell, Oklahoma, meet Aubrey Parsons.  Aubrey hasbeen a We Care Ministries Cadre member for a number of years.  He suffered a severe stroke a couple of years ago, but he got out of the home where he resides in Texas tocome to Oklahoma to win souls.  For the first part of the campaign we placed him on teams as a silent partner, to go on studies already set up.  But he kindly informed us, "I really want to LEAD a team!"  That means, he wants to actually walk the streets, knock the doors, and lead the conversations and studies when he finds open hearts.

And this is normal for Aubrey.  When his Mary was alive, he would bring her to our campaigns, oft a couple thousand miles away, take her to dialysis, then hit the streets with us to find the lost.

So, watch here as Aubrey leaves the church building in our Cordell campaign to "hit the streets!"  (We have seen 14 obey the Gospel here so far.)

"As yet I am as strong this day as on the day that Moses sent me; just as my strength was then, so now is my strength for war, both for going out and for coming in.  Now therefore, give me this mountain...!" (Caleb, Joshua 14:11-12)

Twenty one new Christians in Ongoing Campaign in Oklahoma

Forty five Cadre and other workers have come to Cordell, Oklahoma, from ten states to join hands with wonderful local Christians at Fourth and College to win souls.  As of Friday morning, 21 have obeyed the Gospel in Cordell, Oklahoma.  Another is waiting to obey as soon as his chaplain allows it jail.  And even another has been restored to his first love.

Some have told us they are looking for the Lord.  Others have that heart that if someone were to simply confront them, they are open and honest to the Word of God and have obeyed.  That is, they thought they were right with God, such as did the Apostle Paul at one time in his life, but someone on our teams confronted them, they were open, and now their sins are truly washed in the blood of the Lamb.  They are those who have the tenor of mind that are open.

Thirteen new Christians in Ongoing Campaign in Oklahoma

Forty five Cadre and other workers have come to Cordell, Oklahoma, from ten states to join hands with wonderful local Christians at Fourth and College to win souls.  And after only four days of hitting the streets, as of Monday afternoon, thirteen have obeyed the Gospel in Cordell, Oklahoma.  Another is waiting to obey as soon as his chaplain allows it jail.  And even another has been restored to his first love.

Several of this number actually have told us, “I have been praying God would send someone to me!  One of our teams asked if she knew anyone who needed someone to care for her with, maybe, groceries.  And she said, “I need God!”  And now she is a sister in Christ!!

People are merely waiting to hear the Gospel, people who love the Lord, but like Apollos of old, they need to taught the way of the Lord more accurately.  Like the youth director at a local church that "baptize" babies, that is, they merely sprinkle a little water on the head or make a wet cross on the forehead.  Well, the youth director is a young lady.  And she did herself obey the Gospel of Christ and is now a sister in Christ.  People love the Lord and are full of integrity with the scriptures.  They will even obey under great difficulties.  Like the one on Monday morning.  Monday morning a father and son obeyed.  The son has M.D., and it took a team of brothers to carry him into the baptistery to baptize him, wheelchair and all.  (See picture.)  All they need is Christians getting out of their church pews and going to the community!!

One obeyed the Gospel as we began Sunday morning assembly.  Another obeyed after he heard the lesson on Hell Sunday night.

Here are the stats so far:  One out of every two doors knocked found someone home; one out of ever three people found home has resulted in a Gospel Presentation; One out of every five Bible studies has resulted in someone obeying the Gospel!

Does “door knocking” work?  Well, we have thirteen and more in five days so far that can best answer that!  You might as well ask, “Does the blood of Jesus save?”

It's in the approach.  People will listen!  People are looking!  People WILL obey!

Stay tuned to this page for more rescues coming up maybe momentarily!

Seven obey, now third day,

Cordell, Oklahoma campaign

We are counting five who have obeyed the Gospel, another waiting permission in a local incarceration situation, and another has been restored to the Lord.

You must meet Calvin Rodgers, rescued on Friday of the campaign.  Reggie Gardner and his team … one we called the “Over The Hill Gang,” found Calvin at his apartment in a retirement center.  Now Calvin is only 34 years old, but he is there because he is totally disabled.  You see, when Calvin was just 16 years old, he did the unthinkable.  He played Russian Roulette … and lost.  He spun the cylinder of a .357, then pointed it to his head, just in front of his right temple, and pulled the trigger.  And it fired.  It went completely through his head and out the left side, following a path right behind his eyes.  But he won too.  He lived!  Yet, he lost his eyesight, all but about 40% of his left eye.  His right eye is now glass.

Meet Calvin Rodgers

And meet the rescuers for Calvin.  Aubrey Parsons, right, got out of the Assisted Care living quarters in Texas to come and win souls.  He travels nearly minus two miles per hour ... but you can't keep up with him.  Then, Syble West, left, is legally blind.  Could it be said of this one, "The blind were leading the blind, and one fell into the baptistery!"  Thank you, Reggie Gardner, middle, for leading the team and teaching Calvin!

Calvin was standing outside his apartment door and the team stepped up and started the We Care approach.

Reggie painted word pictures for Calvin to see the Gospel.  And he did.  When they got down to the final verse, Acts 22:16, Reggie read it to  him.  And Calvin sat there.  Total quietness.  Then he exhaled loudly.  And he asked, “Would you read that again?”  So, Reggie did.  And he sat there again in quiet, somber thought.  Then, he asked a second time, “Would you read that again?”  And Reggie did for the third time.  And Calvin said, “Yes, I need to do that!”

Does Calvin know how close he came to Hell?  Does he!

Meet Calvin Rodgers, God’s new child, now on his way to Heaven, one happy man!

Next, meet Renate Robison.  This lady was in a nearby town, “housesitting” for a friend.  One of our teams was there working.  Renate actually lives in Cordell, but she was there, and our team went there to meet her?  Yes!  Praise God, they found her.  And she is today overwhelmed that so many love her, people she is just now meeting and are accepting her into the family!

With two more who obeyed at noon on Saturday, mother and grown son, that makes seven now.  We’re finding out about these latest two.

So, as the souls come to the Lord in this campaign, check back on our site.  The campaign is now in session and will be throughout next week.

Two become Christians first morning

as campaign begins in Cordell, Oklahoma!!

Cordell, Oklahoma - The campaign started Thursday morning, and immediately two obeyed the Gospel!  Kathy Hendricks (Cadre) and her team found Dawn at home!  They knocked onedoor and found her.  And Dawn opened up her heart to the Lord.  Dawn had been baptized earlier in her life, but after hearing the Good News of Christ, confessed she yet needed to"obey the Gospel" of Christ! And in tears she, still in the baptistry, and Kathy, outside it, hugged and cried with joy!

Meet Dawn Davis, a new Christian!  What joy she has!  What joy she is!

Dawn now tells us that she and her child drove past the church building the night before our team knocked her door.  She saw all the RVs camped on the parking lot, those belonging to the Cadre of workers coming to participate in the campaign.  And she sat in the car and prayed someone would find her.  She is facing serious health threats and is in need of encouragement and answers!

The next day, the team got lost in town.  Where were they to begin their assigned streets?  So, they stopped at the first house they believed was in their territory.  And it happened to be Dawn's.  When she came to the door, she told them how she had been praying, even in front of the building the night before, that God would send someone to her!  And there they were!

No wonder her face here is tearfully full of joy!! Welcome sweet Dawn!

Next on the first morning, a letter carrier in the church in Cordell, knowing just about everyone in town, took his team to a lady he knew, Vickie Bartlett.  They drove up and in front of her house and had a prayer.  As they finished praying and were getting out of the car, Vickie came out the front door to meet them.  And what did she tell them?  She too had been praying God would send someone to her.  They ended up back in the car, avoiding her dogs in the house, and there she learned the words the lead to eternal life, the Gospel of Jesus!

And now she too is his child!!

People are looking!!!  People will obey if they ever hear the cut-the-fat, get-to-the-muscle GOSPEL of CHRIST!!
